Alfio Tommasini

MILK GENETICS

The author of these photographs has grown up in a raw climate mountain area where milk consumption has always been a matter of survival. The inhabitants of this area have the highest lactose tolerance in the world. Milk consumption is no longer a lifesaving necessity to the farmers who produce it. However, it is an income provision for them and they also believe regular milk consumption brings a lot of benefi ts. This is why farmers think it is essential that people continue to take it. The enzyme needs constant stimulation in order to be kept alive. The author observes milk producers’ lives in his own birthplace. Until then, he had only seen the fi nal product.
